Free Range Bison
Bison are classified as Big Game in British Columbia
and non-resident hunting is open in only one area, of the province
I have personally guided this hunt in Oct,2002 and have previously guided in this area in the mid 1990's.
The quality of big trophy bulls in this area is truly incredible.
While guiding clients there in the 90's, bison were always seen feeding on the flats oh high on the open hillsides off the river
valleys.
Boone and Crockett trophies are common, as the bulls in this area have the age neccesary to reach that quality.
All of the clients in 2002 were archery clients, the four bulls harvested all made P&Y with one qualifying
for the Boone and Crockett records book.
By no means is this hunting easy.<
This is a wild free roaming bison population in an area that can require alot of time and effort to harvest a trophy bull.
The season runs October 4 - December 31. And can be combined with Canada moose as a second animal.
The hunts are conducted from cabins or wall tents equipped with wood heaters within the huntering area and transportation is saddle and pack horse.
Other species can be hunted on a trophy fee basis during the bison hunt.
This is one of four free ranging bison herd in North America.
